Wisconsin is home to over 1500 active foundations and corporate giving programs.  According to 2006 data (the latest available), these grantmakers had assets that totaled $6.78 billion and gave grants of over $500 million.  

If total grants continue to rise at their average rate, grants paid by Wisconsin foundations will reach $832 million by the year 2012.   
 

In terms of dollar amount, family foundations and independent foundations together account for nearly two-thirds of all foundation grants in Wisconsin, contributing a combined total of $332.5 million.
